Graded Lesson Plans 2

This week in class we did the second week of lesson plans. Overall the group of 5 people did great, I loved how engaging and fun theses lesson are.

Lindsay Holler did a lesson over my traits, which I really love the whole lesson in general. What stood out to me was her anticipatory set about the self portrait to introduce a lesson over trait. I have to stay I loved the three activities that she choose for her students to do. I feel that she is going to make sure her students will come away understanding trait. I also loved her modification and extension for her students because she still kept fun of them. Great Job! I wish I could in a class and learn about trait this way. I feel that the students will remember this one for years to come.

Andrew Elliot did his lesson over Trophic Cascade and I really love his lesson plan. My favorite part was the independent practice because if fun game that the students would get to play. I would love to play a game like this when I was in school. Great Job!

Kylie did a fun lesson plan that is one of my favorites so far. My favorite was the anticipatory set she choose, which I thought it was a great way to introduce her lesson topic. I LOVE THE SONG!!! I really love the idea of having her students write a break-up letter, This lesson is so engaging. Great Job!!

Lisset Holt did her lesson over making inferences. One thing that stood out to me was her anticipatory set with having her students start with a picture. I also really like the question that she would ask her students.  I loved the modification giving her students multiple choice to help with learning about inferences. Great Job!

Andrew Hubble did his lesson over World History and I really loved the idea of having them find quotes. Each student finding a different quote would ensure different presentation. I LOVE THE FIVE QUESTIONS that students would have to answer. Great Job!!

  1. Hey Kayla,
Thank you for your thoughts on my lesson. I really try to keep students busy and having fun. As much as I like for my students to have structure, I want them to wonder "what will Mrs. Mudd surprise us with today" kind of like Mrs. Frizzle!

I too loved Lisset's lesson. I wish I had a class that did that when I was in school. It sounds like so much fun and tbh I may steal the idea for a writing prompt one of these days.

    Great post!

Madeline Hunter Lesson Plan Design

The Madeline Hunter lesson plan is a seven parts, that include objectives, standards, anticipatory set, teaching [input, modeling, and check for understanding], guided practice, closure, and independent practice. I find this plan easy to follow because it breaks it down into simple steps. There are several things I find difficult with this lesson plan design. The first being research- based strategies because I need to get more comfortable using then in my lesson. The next being extension and modification because I find it difficult to come up with them without having knowledge of the education level of students.  I know that it just takes practice when writing lesson plans, so I'm excited to get better at it. That is why I love these courses because I get a chance to learn new things.
