Hello Everyone,   My name is Kayla Pool. I live in Versailles Missouri with my boyfriend, My two years old daughter name Chloe,  my fifteen-pound orange tabby cat, and My 10-year-old chocolate lab.   I’m currently work at a local daycare couple times week which allows me spend time with my daughter and watch her grow into a mean little girl with attitude. I'm excited to start my student teaching in the fall and  I will be in a first grade classroom.  I’m a huge fan of all kinds of documentaries. My two favorites being about crime and history. I hope to one day have a chance to make one. I’m also a big fan of Harry Potter and I have a movie marathon about 2 to 3 times a month. My favorite movie of all time is Wall-E  I have only one hobby which I’m a big toy collector of all kind of toys new and old. I have over 400 Funko Pops of different movies and shows like Pokémon, Superheroes, Harry Potter, and so on.    2 Truths ...

After hearing everyone's mini presentations about how their unit plan went. I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one that difficulties with it. A lot of my classmates had problems with time management and organizing the lessons in the correct order. I would have never thought that thinking maps could be used as instructional strategies. The one person that stood out to me was Dakota when he mention not knowing the time of day the lesson being taught and how that would effect the his unit and the activities. I really like the power point that was used. I thought it was well put together power point. I really liked what Debbie said about starting early because the amount of time it takes. I have to say I spent weeks on it and I'm not completely happy with it. Everyone made some great point to tonight. 

Considering  Teach Like a Champion,  what strategies are you likely to use in your own classroom and lessons? Teach Like a Champion has a lot of great strategies that is hard for me to choose from.  I really like Strategy 1, No Opt Out means that teachers don't accepts I don't know, but tells their student to give it a shot no matter if they don't know their answer. I like strategy 5, no Apologies because I feel a teacher shouldn't apologies for what they are teaching rather make the lesson more fun and engaging. I also like strategy 8, Post it because I think students should know the objectives of the day this can be done by just posting it to the board. These are some of my favorites but I like most of the strategies. I hoping that I could use almost all of them in my classroom and lesson. These just open up the possibilities for my classroom. 

This week we finished our third week of graded lesson plans Overall the group of 2 besides me  did great, I loved how engaging and fun theses lesson are. Abagail H was the first to go and her lesson was over the westward expansion. I really loved her objective and I thought it was a well written. I also love the fact game and I felt that it was a great way to keep the student engaged. Another thing I loved about your lesson was the journey journals and the questions you asked. Overall it was great lesson that I had hard time picking my favorite thing. Great Job! The second person that went was me and I did mine over K-math. Which I was nervous and when this happens I talk like 100 miles an hour. I really tried to remember to slow so I hope I did. This is my favorite lesson for the unit. This week in class we did the second week of lesson plans. Overall the group of 5 people did great, I loved how engaging and fun theses lesson are. Lindsay Holler did a lesson over my traits,which I really love the whole lesson in general. What stood out to me was her anticipatory set about the self portrait to introduce a lesson over trait. I have to stay I loved the three activities that she choose for her students to do. I feel that she is going to make sure her students will come away understanding trait. I also loved her modification and extension for her students because she still kept fun of them. Great Job! I wish I could in a class and learn about trait this way. I feel that the students will remember this one for years to come.  Andrew Elliot did his lesson over Trophic Cascade and I really love his lesson plan. Overall, I enjoyed each of the lesson plans that were discussed this week in class. I felt that each of them were great and I want to take these classes for the fun and engaging lesson. The first person that went was Rebecca.  I thought her lesson over fiction and the plot of the story was great. The first thing that stood out to me was the seesaw activity because it just sound fun and I believe that kids would enjoyed it. The second thing that stood out to me was allowing her students to use a book that they have read so meaning that each flow chart could be something different. I agree with Rebecca that the extension and modification for student this young can be difficult because i'm having trouble also. The next person that went was Rylee and  she had a lesson over the moon phases, which was so great. This week in class we discussed three different types of rubrics that we could use for the rubric part of the unit plan. The first is holistic rubric, which is the most general kind. This rubric list three to five levels of performance and has broad descriptions that describe each level. One advantage of the holistic rubric is it is very easy on the teacher and creating one takes less time then the others. The biggest disadvantage is that it doesn't provide a targeted feedback to the students. This means that students are very unlikely to learn from the assignments.        The second is the analytic rubric, which breaks down the characteristics  into parts that defines which are strong and ones that could be place for improvement.
