Unit Plan

The unit that I'm doing is kindergarten math -r ead and write numerals and represent a number of objects from 0 to 20. As of right now I have nothing locked down, but I have several ideas. The first is a number scavenger  hunt around the school or classroom. I really wanted them to go out and find numbers and objects out of school to make a connection why numbers are important  and are used in everyday  life. I'm not sure if that would work taking it home. I was going to have the students go around  find numbers and objects. The second is I might do math centers if that can be allowed. I would have students go to different math center that would make them have to different projects working the all the numbers. For example put a puzzle together  of a few numbers .  Let me know if you guys have any ideas that would be better. Working with  kindergarten students I want to create something fun for them.

Bloom's Taxonomy

Bloom's Taxonomy encourages high- order thinking in students. It is broken up into 6 different sections: k nowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Knowledge is defines as remembering previous information. Comprehension is understanding the meaning of informational material. Application is applying previously learned information in new and concrete situations to solve problems. Analysis is the break down of informational materials into component parts. Synthesis is creating or divergent applying prior knowledge and skill to make new or something original. Evaluation is the judging the value of materials based on personal opinion that results in a end product that has a given purpose.     Work Cited  BLOOM’S TAXONOMY ACTION VERBS. (n.d.). Madeline Hunter Lesson Plan Design

The Madeline Hunter lesson plan is a seven parts, that include objectives, standards, anticipatory set, teaching [input, modeling, and check for understanding], guided practice, closure, and independent practice. I find this plan easy to follow because it breaks it down into simple steps. There are several things I find difficult with this lesson plan design. The first being research- based strategies because I need to get more comfortable using then in my lesson. The next being extension and modification because I find it difficult to come up with them without having knowledge of the education level of students.  I know that it just takes practice when writing lesson plans, so I'm excited to get better at it. That is why I love these courses because I get a chance to learn new things.
